Old Metairie

Old Metairie geographic position is generally accepted as the area surrounding Metairie Rd in between Causeway Blvd and the 17th (East/West), and I-10 and Airline Hwy (North/South); it is conveniently located near to New Orleans and the commercial district of Metairie.  It is home to Metairie Country Club, and  is located near the New Orleans Museum of Art, New Orleans City Park and the New Orleans Botanical Gardens.


Old Metairie is one of the oldest developed portion of Jefferson Parish because of its proximity to New Orleans and a higher flood elevation due to its location on the Metairie ridge.  Old Metairie’s real estate market has many beautiful and expensive homes, and is considered an upscale area of the New Orleans metro.  It  hosts some of the metro areas best specialty shopping districts within its many commercial shopping centers located along Metairie road.  Old Metairie is also home to DeLimon Place, a gated town-home and condominium development that is  one of Metairie’s most impressive and well established residential communities.


Pontiff Playground is a community favorite for outdoor recreation.  The playground supports many sporting activities for local leagues, a running path, and provides great open spaces for pick-nicks and family gatherings.  It also make available indoors facilities upon request.  Since Old Metairie is home to many mature trees, especially live oaks, residents enjoy shaded sidewalks for their morning or afternoon  walks and/or jogs.

Old Metairie  has long been a highly desired area to raise a family.  There is a lower than average crime rate, and many community watch programs that work to protect the safety of its residents.  The area is well established and has a serene landscape with manicured gardens and many mature live oak trees.
